June 23rd: Updates: This post was updated with community comments and additional ideas on – see the end of the post for the changes. I decided early last year I would focus a bit more energy and effort for speaking at conferences and events than I normally do. I’ve been a Microsoft Certified Trainer since 2003, so there has been plenty of speaking opportunities in classrooms and for slightly larger audiences. I wanted to have more speaking opportunities outside Finland, and also in shorter pieces. Instead of a 3 day workshop, I craved for a 30-60 minutes “straight to the point” talks. Brief thoughts on the past I started my journey by listing (what I thought) would be the topics… Read More »My checklist for speaking at conferences and events
I was happy to be accepted as a speaker for SharePoint Saturday Netherlands, which was held in Vianen (near Utrecht) last weekend. It’s been a super busy May and June for me so far, yet I was very happy to be able to make a visit to the Netherlands before the holiday season. My sister (and her Dutch husband) live near Utrecht, so the event was also a good opportunity for me to catch up with them. Last time our catch-up ended at 5 am by bicycling through Utrecht – so good memories. Flying to Schiphol is rather easy, as it takes around 2 hours direct. This was my 10th flight in 2 months so I am getting very used… Read More »Thank you, SharePoint Saturday Netherlands 2016!
I had a chance to participate in European SharePoint Conference last week in Stockholm, Sweden. This was nice for several reasons. I didn’t have to travel all the way to Seattle, like the previous week for Microsoft MVP Summit. My flight from Helsinki also took less than an hour, which is very convenient. For the first time ever I chose to fly to Bromma, instead of the more international Arlanda airport in Stockholm. This was a very convenient way of getting to Stockholm fast. The downside is that when leaving Sweden, Bromma seems to be very crowded and cramped. The keynote(s) and announcements As is a tradition there were several keynotes, one or two for each day of the conference.… Read More »Thoughts from European SharePoint Conference 2015
I was honored and happy to be invited to speak at the first SharePoint Saturday Barcelona this past weekend. The event was organized by SharePoint User Group Catalunya. Visiting Barcelona is always a great experience, and by now it seems to be a yearly tradition to spenD a weekend in warmer climate of Spain around this time of the year. You can see the impressive speaker lineup here. Introduction and first part of the event keynote was delivered by Edin Kapic from Sogeti. Second part of the keynote was delivered by Christian Buckley from Beezy. Update: I just received a tweet from the organizers of SharePoint Saturday Barcelona, that my session was voted the top-rated session with a score of… Read More »SharePoint Saturday Barcelona 2015 recap
It’s starting to look like a fairly busy Autumn. Last year this time I was mostly working on delivery projects around SharePoint and Office 365. Now about half of my time is allocated towards delivery projects around Office 365 and Microsoft Azure and the other half is writing, business development and conferences. So I thought it would be a good idea to gather a list on my upcoming talks and sessions. Come and say hi, bring some great questions and keep on learning! September 17th of September | Intranet ja Digitaalinen Summit I’m hosting the Expert’s Panel in the afternoon with some very knowledgeable and great panelists. Join us for a good discussion and bring your questions with you! See… Read More »My upcoming talks and sessions
